The sailing dream

Welcome onboard the Siggy’s cup website! This friendly regatta is open to all companies based in Luxembourg and to all individuals living or working in Luxembourg. Taking place annually in Mediterranean waters, Siggy’s cup offers you the opportunity to discover the joys of sailing and also offers you the chance to further improve your sailing skills.

The first Siggy’s cup took place in May 2007 and it is fast becoming a major sailing event for those based in Luxembourg. Siggy’s cup already doubled the number of participants in 2008, tripled in 2009 and this number is set to quadruple by 2010.

You may ask yourself why it is called ‘Siggy’s cup’. For this regatta to be properly anchored in Luxembourg it had to bear a name that all Luxembourgish citizens and foreigners living in Luxembourg would remember. Moreover, it is a name which most people here already know. Sigismund of Luxembourg was the last emperor of the house of Luxembourg and in Luxembourg he is often referred to by his nickname ‘Siggy’.
